set your table with love
by Angela Min
The lovely story from which this one was remixed, on vegetable gardening and the "literal fruits of your labor" reminds me of all that is wonderful about gardening and cooking. And that's a photo from my old garden, of my fave rose in a dreamy shade of peach that reminds me of sunsets. Gardens & cooking are the act of creating, with love. Somehow it acts as the invisible ingredient that makes an otherwise less-than-perfect garden or meal, still wonderful. A few weeds in the garden or a few burnt experiments in the oven eventually turn out fine in the end. And that reminds me of a movie I love "Julie & Julia". The takeaway for me is that what matters in life is not perfection, but to live life, and each moment, with passion. I believe each person has a unique gift that they to bring to the table. And each moment is an opportunity to turn the ordinary into the magical, be it a meal, a sprig of flowers for the table, or any opportunity to create something for ourselves and others.
